Vincent Van Gogh Self Portraits

When I introduced Vincent Van Gogh to the seniors in Art History they were surprised to hear that he wasn't just a madman that cut off his own ear.  He was a passionate painter and loving brother. He was fiercely invested in bettering himself each and every day. This was something the students could relate to and they hit the ground running.  We took his impressionistic techniques and applied them to self portraits creating mood and texture.  These are works in progress, enjoy!

  1. These are truly amazing! I remember attempting a self portrait in my oil painting class back in college. It was probably the most difficult artistic expression I ever attempted. Kudos to the students who have displayed their work here!
