A Great Start!

This week kicked off our first artist in the Visiting Artist Series at BVT. Nicholas Kole, a nationally known illustrator, came to talk to the students about being an artist in the Illustration field and working to make your goals happen. Approximately 30 students were in attendance! The kids left feeling inspired and excited about the possibilities and opportunities the art field has to offer. Shops in attendance included Multimedia, Painting and Design, Auto Tech and Construction Technology!

We were also fortunate to have Interior Designer Nathan Reynolds come in and shed some light on a field that many kids at BVT have an interest in.

Nick above, showing the students some of his own work from high school, and talking about his  journey as an artist since high school.

Nathan explaining how the Interior Design process really works, as well as talking about how he opened his own Interior Design business. Students learned about the various processes in designing a space for a client.

Thank you to all students who attended and an even bigger thank you to teachers for your patience and support!

Playing Cards

Playing cards! Sophomores taking 2 Dimensional Design were given the task of creating a list of opposite (or complimentary) characters.  This list could include characters already in existence like Mario and Luigi, or more abstract concepts like dark and light. Then students designed how these characters would "connect" using sketches from their list.  Emphasis was placed on learning to incorporate illustration, border design and suit text seamlessly to create a playing card from their imagination.  These are some of the results! Enjoy!
