It's Vincent Van Gogh time again! For Art History Studio, seniors learn about the life and work of post-impressionist Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890). Reading through letters between Vincent and his brother Theo, students gain a better understanding of his life. Van Gogh was a prolific painter expressing his pain and joy through many subjects, especially portraits. So, students learned how to paint their own portraits in Van Gogh's style. Please enjoy!

Freshmen Collaged Portraits
Freshmen taking Intro to Visual Arts just finished up their collaged portait projects. The term portrait is used very loosely in this context- students could do their own face, or a celebrity's, or even their dog! If you look closely, many of these have personal meanings and messages, which we love to see in the art room! Using magazine clippings to render color and shading students expanded their knowledge of one of the biggest elements of art: color. Please enjoy, and stay tuned for more in the upcoming weeks!
