Painting and Design Art Journals

In Applied Arts with Ms. Monteiro- Bernard, sophomore students from our Painting and Design shop explore a variety of materials and techniques to create mixed-media visual journals that are inspired by shop projects. Each week a page is created and added to the year-long project producing a log of their learning experiences. Students accumulate a collection of experimental art that represents their shop projects and combines all pages into a bound journal as an end result. The English department has also recently integrated with this project to further enhance writing skills as support to the students’ visuals.

Art History "Choice" Projects

The visual arts department tried something new this year with the seniors. Giving them the reigns, they were put in charge of picking what artist (past or present) they were going to research and use as inspiration for their next project.  The results were pretty exciting! They ended up with a variety of impressive results. A few works in progress are pictured below.  You'll be able to view them all at the BVT Arts Night May 20th!

3D Landscape Paintings

Freshmen recently finished their 3D landscape painting projects! Students chose a painting and style to emulate. Some students picked classic paintings by Monet or Thomas Cole. Others used Disney's conceptual art from movies like Tangled or Aladdin.  From there, all students picked elements from the painting to make out of clay to give a 3D or "pop out" effect. This is the result: a cool relief style piece of art.  You can see these in the hallway in front of the old gym starting this week!
